The 4th grade has been learning about storing and transferring energy between objects. We have learned that the more energy you put into something, the more energy you will get out. We built rubber band cars and tested them out by winding them up more or less to see how far they will go. For our final run we made a big circle and used a central point as a goal to reach. They all had a great time building and testing out their cars!

It’s Spelling Bee season! Irasburg Village School has officially registered to participate in The Scripps National Spelling Bee! We have 27 students from 3rd & 4th Grade, who will participate in our Spelling Bee on January 16, 2026. Participating in the Bee will help your student:
develop vocabulary and language skills,
strengthen life skills like time management and goal setting,
inspire a lifelong love of learning,
gain confidence and camaraderie with their fellow students and
practice poise under pressure and public speaking skills.
Our 3rd & 4th grade Spelling Bee will take place on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in the gym, at Irasburg Village School. In case of a snow day, the alternate date will be Tuesday, January 20, 2026. Parents & supporters are welcome to come!

Dear Orleans Central Supervisory Union Community,
After hearing from our road crews across our Orleans Central Supervisory Union towns and their concerns about the potential for black ice on our dirt roads later this afternoon, we are calling for an early dismissal today out of an abundance of caution.
Preschool and middle schools will begin dismissal at 11:30 a.m.
Elementary schools will begin dismissal at 11:35 a.m.
The high school will dismiss at 11:45 a.m.
We will not be having any afterschool activities. Please look for additional communication from principals, athletic directors, and coaches about any games that are scheduled for this evening.
The safety of our students, staff, and families is always our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we make decisions based on changing road conditions.

The Lake Region Union UHS music department is hosting a midwinter solo and ensemble concert on Tuesday, January 6, at 6PM, at the high school. All are welcome to attend. Admission is free, but donations are welcome. Please see the event's flyer for more information. We hope to see everyone there!

They put on a spectacular concert this past Thursday! We are so proud of their talent and how beautifully they performed.
And a massive THANK YOU to our wonderful music teacher, Mrs Holmes, for her incredible hard work, dedication, and for inspiring the love of music in our students!

We're running a hygiene drive to collect essential items for students in need, and our amazing kids made these posters (check out the photos!) to help spread the word. Donations can be dropped off at the school's front office.
We are kindly requesting donations of:

-Combs/Brushes

Our annual Holiday Bazaar will take place on Monday, December 8th (make-up day will be December 15th). This event is an opportunity for students to shop for gifts for their household members! We set up our "store" in the school and students shop by class. All items are 25 cents each and all proceeds go to our Student Activities Account to fund field trips and events for our school. Thank you in advance for your help and support of this extremely fun event!

3rd grade had an amazing day visiting our State House yesterday! They learned the many steps it takes for a bill to become a law and role-played being chairmen, the Governor, and the Speaker of the House. This field trip kicked off a literacy/social studies unit on government!

This is a reminder to families to sign up for Parent/Teacher Conferences!
Conferences will be held on Monday, November 24th only. There is no school for students from November 24th through November 28th. Classes will resume on Monday, December 1st.

What a week! It was the first big snowfall of the season and our playground was transformed. 🤩 Lots of laughter, crunching snow, and epic winter fun during recess! We love seeing those snowy smiles!

Our IVS Core Value focus for the beginning of the year was Safety. Huge CONGRATULATIONS to the students (one chosen by each classroom teacher!) who received the well-deserved Safety Award at a recent assembly. Thank you for making IVS a safe place to learn!
